Hello, my name is Parama Chattopadhyay.

I am currently accepting tutoring students online and 10-feet-apart at my office at the Somerville Armory.

I have a proven track track record of motivating and uplifting students from Kindergarten through 12th Grade in their school work/homework, as well as mentoring for private school matching and college prep. I also have a proven track record teaching adult students Calculus, and preparation for the SAT, GED, and GRE.

Qualifications

I have a Bachelors in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and Management Science from MIT and a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Scranton. In 2008, I became a certified Grades 5-12 Mathematics teacher through the Massachusetts Department of Education. I also possess a Teaching English as a Foreign Language licensure through Harvard Kaplan Institute. I am a recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Distinguished Young Scientist Award and the Howard Nemerov Distinguished Writer Award.

After graduating from MIT, I worked with Greenpeace Boston doing environmental talks at Boston universities and colleges. Following that experience, I served as the Marketing Director and out-of-school Curriculum Director for the nonprofit Adoption and Foster Care Mentoring for a year through Americorps.

Prior to MIT I graduated from New England Conservatory Prep School, specializing in violin performance, and I have served as a first violinist at the International Music Festival.

I have taught at Fenn School for Boys, METCO Boston as Lead ELA and Mathematics Teacher, Department of Youth Services Physics/ Chemistry/Mathematics Teacher, Everett High School, Medford High School, Neuroscience and Engineering Teacher at Harvard Summer Institute for the Gifted, and Elementary School Shaloh Jewish Day School Computer Science and Mathematics Teacher.

I also served at Boston Tutoring Center as Lead Math and Science Teacher all ISEE, SSAT, SAT, SAT II, and college and private counseling.

For the last two years and currently, I also work at a Brookline, MA Educational Company as Chief Marketing Officer and Lead Teacher for All Subjects. There, I teach ESL children as well as adult students all test taking strategies for standardized tests, while developing curriculum and supervising teaching interns. In addition, I assist students with all their college application needs and interviewing goals. I perform contract work through the British International School of Boston as Lead Science Olympiad Coach and International Baccalaureate Calculus teacher.

Smart Academy works with the Out of the Blue Community Arts (A 501-c3 nonprofit organization) to further their educational mission by providing subsidised, donation-based STEAM learning to BIPOC and girls in an individualized, supportive atmosphere.
